The Adventures of the Checkered Vans

A few years ago, I was standing outside the Roman Forum when it struck me that my trusty checkered Vans sneakers were actually quite classically striking. The checkered pattern is one that has appeared in tile artwork all over the world for a long time, and though the pattern has taken on a whole new association (vintage funky diner?), it occurred to me that my millennium-era shoes actually looked quite good when thrown in with antiquity.

So this happened.

Enjoy!
